Group dinners
The classic. One person paid the bill. Three or four people owe portions. Tax + tip already on the receipt. The OCR scanner reads the printed total + line items; you split equal, by share, by percentage, or itemized. Splivo handles the math; you tap the deeplink to your chosen payment app; recipients pay in the app they already trust. Both sides get a record.
If the group is on Splivo, the chat thread for the group keeps coordination in one place — “who’s grabbing dinner?” — and the receipt + split sit alongside it.
Trips
Trips are where expense splitting compounds. Multi-day, multi-currency, multiple people paying for different things at different times. Splivo’s multi-currency support lets each expense stay in the currency it was paid; FX rates pull live (free tier); year-end summary aggregates by currency for tax purposes (Pro tier).
The audit trail matters here: every expense edit appends to history; the undo stack covers four-tier delete; nothing silently changes the math after you’ve agreed on a split.
Roommate utilities
Recurring bills + one-off expenses + the “hey can you grab paper towels” texts. Splivo’s group activity feed surfaces who paid what when. Pay-link share for the recurring “monthly utilities” reminder — recipient pays in the app they already use; record on both sides.
For roommates who use Splivo: the group chat sits beside the expense feed; coordination + split tracking + payment confirmation all in one thread.
What we don’t do
- We don’t hold funds. Splivo is not a wallet, not a bank.

- We don’t auto-charge. Every settlement requires explicit user tap.
- We don’t pick a rail for you. You choose; we generate the deeplink.
